The tree is produced through an algorithm that identifies the groups that have different access or prevalence rates that are statistically significant. In doing so, it identifies the furthest behind and the furthest ahead groups. Moving from left to right, the population is split into smaller groups as long as a splitting criterion allows, or until the sample size becomes too small. Only circumstances that show significant variance are picked up by the algorithm and subsequently feature in the trees. The furthest behind group is highlighted in orange, and the furthest ahead group is highlighted in blue.
