PakistanSindh2014MICSSafeSanitation
Basic sanitation follows the definition of SDG indicator 1.4.1 Use of improved facilities that are not shared with other households. This indicator is also related to: 6.2.1 Proportion of population using safely managed sanitation services, including a hand-washing facility with soap and water.
Data Source: MICS (Sindh MICS 2014, MICS5)
The following data are considered for this analysis:
• Household-level data (HH - Household Survey)
• Improved facilities follow the MICS5 definition: flush or pour flush to a piped sewer system, septic tank, pit latrine or an unknown place; ventilated improved pit latrines, pit latrines with slab and composting toilets
• The facility is not shared with other households
The standard LNOB analysis for Basic sanitation includes the following circumstances:
• Wealth of the household: top 60 or bottom 40 (of the wealth distribution)
• Residence: urban or rural
• Highest education level in the household (any member): lower (primary or less), secondary or higher
Note: On the platform, this indicator is reported at household level (share of households) using the household survey weight. The MICS5 report publishes the share of household members (Key Findings Report, water and sanitation indicators).
MICS5 has no functioning (disability) module, so this indicator has no analysis including disability.
